Hi, I'm Mary Duran, a licensed clinical social worker and licensed chemical dependency counselor based in Houston, Texas. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from St. Edward's University and a Master of Social Work with a clinical concentration and specialization in health and behavioral health from The University of Houston.
With extensive experience in the field of mental health and substance use, I have worked in diverse therapeutic settings, including residential treatment, community integration mental health programs, a prevention program at a Houston private high school, The Menninger Clinic's adolescent treatment program, and the J. Flowers Health Institute.
My expertise focuses on young adults, late teens, men, and families facing complex mental health issues, personality disorders, and substance use disorders. I am particularly passionate about helping individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders, drawing from my personal experience with loved ones who went through their own treatment process. I approach mental health and substance use with a non-judgmental perspective and a deep understanding of the complexities involved for both the individual and their loved ones.
My goal is to help clients uncover the underlying factors contributing to their substance use and mental health symptoms and support them on their path to recovery. Together, we will explore the root causes of your struggles and develop effective coping skills and strategies for long-term healing and well-being. My approach is warm, empathetic, and client-centered, ensuring that you are empowered in your therapeutic journey. I am committed to providing the tools and support needed to achieve your goals and lead a more fulfilling life.
