  • How can therapy help me?

When you work with a therapist you feel connected with it gives you the opportunity to explore and address your emotions and challenges in a supportive, empathic, non-judgmental, and caring environment. Therapists can be a tremendous asset in helping you better understand your emotions, achieve personal growth, foster healthier interpersonal relationships, improve self-esteem, cope with substance use, and navigate the complexities of daily life. Additionally, they are helpful in providing their clients with fresh perspectives on their challenges and experiences, and can guide you towards resolution or some type of needed closure.

The benefits you will obtain from therapy depend on your motivation and commitment level; it’s just like anything else in life, the more you put into it and practice the skills you learn, the more successful you will be in reaching your goals.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a session or need to reschedule, please make sure you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise, you will be charged the full session rate.

  • Can I use my insurance?

Currently I do not accept health insurance, as cash pay services can provide more privacy and confidentiality for clients, since insurance companies often require a diagnosis and other personal information to be shared in order to approve treatment.

I am considered an out-of-network provider and I am happy to provide you with a receipt of services (or “super bill”) which you can submit to your insurance agency. Every company and plan is different so checking with your insurance provider about your mental health out-of-network benefits prior to beginning therapy will help you know exactly what your options are. The only way to guarantee reimbursement is to use an in-network provider through your health insurance.

Alternatively, I have partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. The exact amount you get reimbursed will depend on your insurance plan. You can sign up using this link.

Note: Mentaya’s goal is to save you time and money. It’s completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.

  • How long will therapy last?

The length of time in therapy depends on each individuals unique needs. We will work together to identify your goals and we will regularly check-in to assess if you are developing and addressing the things that initially brought you to therapy. Upon initial assessment we will determine frequency of sessions and schedule a recurring time. Generally speaking, those that attend therapy regularly and are motivated to make lasting changes and implement the skills they learn in therapy will progress the quickest.

  • What is a substance use disorder assessment?

A substance use disorder assessment is a service provided to determine appropriate substance use related diagnoses and development of a treatment plan for either yourself or a loved one. This may be an appropriate service for you if you are seeking diagnostic clarity and are needing help determining the appropriate next step to address your presenting problems (i.e. using more than expected, experiencing negative consequences as a result of use, inability to discontinue use, etc).

A substance use disorder assessment consists of a 90-minute interview to gather necessary information to determine the appropriate diagnoses per the DSM-5-TR. Following the assessment, you will receive a written report with the diagnoses, treatment plan, and recommendations for care to address your (or your loved ones) substance use disorder, which will be reviewed in a 60-minute session together.

Pricing for a substance use disorder assessment can be provided upon request.
